Description
The Coast Guard Cutter Dorado and Battery Point Lighthouse, serving and saving the fishermen of Crescent City, California. Battery Point Lighthouse was one of the first lighthouses built on the California coast, being lit in 1856. It was automated in 1953. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the “Crescent City Light,” today it functions as a private navigational aide and museum. The US Coast Guard Cutter Dorado was built at the Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, Louisiana, and was commissioned in April1999. It is a Marine Protector class Coastal Patrol Boat.
