Description
The common or Fuller’s teasel, Dipsacus fullonum, grows wild along the banks of the Flathead River in Sanders County, Montana. Historically, the seed pods were used in the textile industry to full, or tease, fabric—that is raise the nap of the fabric after weaving. Not native to the Americas, the plant has been introduced and is now often considered a noxious weed. This image, taken at mile marker 91 on Montana Highway 200 shows off the plant with the water of the Flathead River as a backdrop.
Taken March 8th, 2020, near Perma, Sanders County, Montana, USA.
Nikon D810 dslr, Nikkor 24-120 mm lens set at 120 mm. ISO 250, f /16, 1/125th second. Shot in RAW format, finished in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC 2020.
